Seven sculptures for the high jewelry showcases Monaco - CARTIER
An Exceptional Bespoke Commission
The Atelier created a series of exceptional artworks for the showcases of Cartier’s high jewelry in Monaco. The intent: curves, volumes, and the colors of the panther along the Riviera. In collaboration with Cartier’s visual team, the Atelier designed and produced a series of seven unique pieces. Each artwork consists of a circular form, truncated at the base, composed of one to four elements to provide volume. A preliminary sketch was created to define the overall shape.
Volumetric Sculptures
All artworks are of identical dimensions but each features a unique composition. This piece, for example, is composed of three elements. The small scales are sculpted continuously, requiring a precise preliminary drawing. The pieces are sculpted independently and then assembled after patination.
Brass as a Material
Brass was introduced in the Atelier with this first commission. It combines finesse and strength, allowing perfectly regular bending. The base is polished mirror brass, while the structure is brushed brass.
Tribute to the Panther
The panther is Cartier’s emblematic animal. One artwork was created as a tribute, sculpted entirely with small scales, featuring a matte black patina highlighted with gold scales applied individually by hand, evoking the animal’s fur.
Custom Reusable Transport Crates
The Atelier also produced individual, reusable wooden crates to transport the artworks between boutiques. The pieces were displayed in 2024 at the Nice and Cannes boutiques.
